Bellport Man, With Canceled License And 29 Driver’s License Suspensions Arrested
Sayville – Highway Patrol Officer Thomas Joy observed a black 2014 Lexus driving at a high rate of speed on eastbound Sunrise Highway in the vicinity of Lincoln Avenue at approximately 6:25 p.m.
After pulling the driver, Tyquon Gregory over, Officer Joy discovered that Gregory’s license had been cancelled due to 29 suspensions occurring on 9 separate dates. The suspensions, ranging from 2011-2015 included Failing to Answer for Traffic Tickets, Failing to Pay Traffic Fines, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test and Driving While Ability Impaired. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles has classified Gregory as a persistent violator of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Gregory was transported to the Fifth Precinct for processing.
Gregory, 24, of Bellport, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree. He was also issued traffic tickets for Speeding, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Failure to have a valid NYS Insurance ID Card in the vehicle.
Gregory was released on bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 16.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
