Shirley Man In Critical Condition After Accident On Motorcycle
Brookhaven – Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist in Brookhaven on Sunday afternoon.
James Simms was riding a 2004 Honda motorcycle westbound on Montauk Highway at 1:22 p.m. when his vehicle collided with a 2005 Jeep that was pulling out of OK Petroleum, located at 2549 Montauk Highway.
Simms, 54, of Carleton Drive, Shirley, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The driver of the Jeep, Robert Parente, 17, of Gerard Road, Yaphank, was not injured.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Fifth Squad detectives at 631-854-8552.
