Legislator Browning Welcomes The Pimentel Family To Bellport; Suffolk County And Habitat For Humanity Make American Dream Possible

Bellport – Legislator Kate Browning (WF-Shirley) celebrated with the Pimentel family as officials dedicated their new home in Bellport. The project was made possible through a partnership with Suffolk County and Habitat for Humanity.

The property at 727 Michigan Ave. in Bellport was another tax lien parcel that Suffolk County transferred to the Town of Brookhaven through its 72-h program. The program continues to prevent speculation on future rentals, and provides middle-class families with an opportunity to achieve the American dream. Had the property not been transferred to the Town, it would have been auctioned off to the highest bidder.

“One home at a time we are taking these neglected and blighted properties and turning them into positive assets for our communities, which is only made possible through the 72-h program,” stated Legislator Browning. “It is amazing to see new homeowners moving into our community who will take pride in the quality of life in the surrounding area. I wish the Pimentel family the best of luck in their new home.”
